Our Work

Habitat Restoration

Helping damaged ecosystems recover—and measuring whether interventions actually work.

Our restoration partnerships combine ecological baselines, applied research and ongoing assessment.

First understand the damage

The first stage of restoration is to identify what changed, how confidently the cause can be established, and which ecological processes remain viable. A successful plan requires agreement on measurable outcomes, not simply a compelling photograph.

Soils, hydrology, migration routes and local land use can determine whether a seemingly straightforward intervention will succeed.

Design for the long term

Wrenfield supports adaptive management: monitor, interpret, adjust and report. Project records distinguish work completed from habitat function demonstrably restored.

Local organizations carry much of the continuing stewardship. Our partnerships aim to strengthen their capacity rather than create permanent dependence on a visiting team.

Learning from failure

Unsuccessful interventions produce valuable evidence when methods and outcomes are reported plainly. We encourage partners to record limitations alongside achievements.
