About Wrenfield

An enduring commitment to the living world

Independent by design. International in outlook. Grounded in evidence.

Founded in 1894, the Wrenfield Foundation connects scientific research, conservation partnerships and informed intervention across the world's most important ecological landscapes.

Our purpose

From early natural-history surveys to modern ecological assessments, Wrenfield has supported inquiry where environmental decisions are complicated and the consequences are lasting. Our public programs concentrate on research, habitat stewardship, conservation capacity and a careful accounting of outcomes.

The Foundation's model is deliberately interdisciplinary. Botanists work alongside mapping specialists; marine researchers collaborate with local institutions; legal and operational teams support projects that take years rather than weeks.

Our independence

Wrenfield's privately endowed model permits sustained research beyond individual funding cycles. Program governance and independent scientific review inform decisions about what we publish and where we work.

Our earliest benefactors understood that money and influence could open doors. The Foundation's enduring responsibility is to make those opportunities serve a broader ecological purpose.
