A multi-year collaboration builds a clearer botanical baseline across threatened forest habitats.
What the team recorded
Botanical teams working with a regional university network completed the latest phase of a multi-year plant inventory. Field crews revisited permanent plots, compared flowering observations with earlier surveys and prepared authorized reference specimens for partner herbaria.
The project includes habitat context, not simply a list of species. Researchers documented elevation, soil moisture, canopy cover and disturbance indicators to help future teams interpret changes.
The value of a repeat visit
Wrenfield program scientists stressed that a newly recorded population does not necessarily indicate a new arrival. Previous surveys differed in season, access and sampling methods; the analysis addresses those differences rather than presenting the larger list as an automatic conservation success.
A public methods note and non-sensitive summary will be indexed in the research library.
